Practice

Monday, April 30th, 2007

Friday was more practice for the band. We got together at 9 and had a quick practice, since Rock had to work early Saturday morning. Even with a quick practice we got a good bit accomplished. It looks like our public unveiling will be in late July now. I can’t wait!

Antother lovely day

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Sunday was another lovely day. The kids played outside some more. Then Thing 1 had a birthday party to go to. Band Mom did more gardening. I did…nothing. I just lazed around and enjoyed the day. Band Mom made a nice dinner of California Rolls and Mu Shu. All in all I don’t think this could have been a more relaxing day.

Lawn Work and Practice

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Saturday was gorgeous. Finally some spring weather. It was in the upper 70s and clear skys. Band Mom had a meeting so I was home with the kids. They played outside for a while. Pooh left around 1 and Band Mom was home around 3. Then it was time to work in the yard. The first grass cutting of the season. I think this year may see a new lawn mower at the old homestead. Ours is old and pretty beat up. It made through the task, but I’m not sure how many more times it will do the job. Band Mom worked on her flower gardens for a while. After that I got cleaned up and we had dinner.

After dinner I packed up and headed over to Rock’s for practice. Practice went pretty well. We worked on some new material. I’m having a ton of fun with this group. Its super comfortable working with Rock, Trav and Scott. We jammed till about 1 am. Not because we had to, but because we were having a good time and not really paying attention to the time. Its looking like we might be getting out of the basement in July or August. I can’t wait!

Golfing With Guns

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

Friday, my boss’s boss, the owner/president of our company (Tom), took the entire IT department out for a little fun. He took us to Split Rail Sporting Clays for a day of shooting. Now, I’ve never been shooting. Actually, I hadn’t fired any type of gun since 8th or 9th Grade, when I shot a .22 at the schools rifle range. I wasn’t sure what to expect.

I think I found my new addiction though. I had a blast. (No pun intended) Tom supplied the guns and ammo for the day and paid for all of us to shoot. Our group of 5 spent the afternoon moving from station to station just having a good ol’ time. To me it was like golfing but getting to shoot things. I totally enjoyed it. Everyone said I did pretty well for someone that has never shot before. That didn’t matter, what mattered was that I had a good time doing it. Granted my shoulder and arm are a little sore, but I was expecting that. Next time I’ll have a better handle on how to hold the gun and shouldn’t bang up my shoulder quite as much.

I gotta talk to Rocky and see if he’s into this kinda thing. I know he has the guns. This could become a regular hobby of mine.

More Vomit

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

So Thing 1 made it all day and night Friday without getting sick again.

Saturday, was a home day. Pooh had an academic competition and left the house around 6 am or so. The rest of us got McDonald’s breakfast. Band Mom spent most of the day working on her plants. And I did some client work.

After Pooh returned, Band Mom and I went out to Lowe’s to look at some gardening stuff for her and a new dryer. Ours sounds like there is a cat being mauled by the belts all the time. We ended up getting on and heading home. Of course when we have to unload the damn thing its raining pretty good. But Pooh and I were able to carry it around back. I got the box off of it and Band Mom and I managed to work it through the basement doors. Then we get it all set up and the damn plug doesn’t fit the socket in our wall. So I head back to Lowe’s to get the right one for our house, while everyone else eats dinner.

When I get back Band Mom hooks it up and its running great. The kids go to bed while Band Mom and I stay up and watch some TV. A little after midnight here comes Thing 1 covered in puke again. So we get her cleaned up and her room cleaned up and everyone heads to bed.

Sunday we picked up Band Mom’s Mom and aunt and headed to West Mifflin for some Chinese buffet. Then we went down to the strip district to hit the Chinese grocery. We took them home then headed home ourselves. Pooh’s dad picked her up, and Things 1 & 2 headed to bed.

I wake up Monday morning to find out Thing 1 has puked again, but not as bad during the night. It obviously didn’t smell as bad either, because she just let Band Mom and I sleep and she went back to sleep herself. After it was clean I headed of to work.
Later, Band Mom took Thing 1 to the doctors. It looks like she has some killer allergies (and possibly a cold) and the drip is making her sick. They prescribe some children’s allergy medicine and a mild antibiotic (in case it is a cold of some sort) and everyone is happy. We made it though Monday night with no puke! Hopefully we’ll make Tuesday and on now that she is taking something for it…

More Practice

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

Friday night we were supposed to have practice at 9. My mom took Pooh shopping in the afternoon/evening. Since practice wasn’t until 9 we all decided to meet for dinner before I had to bounce. So we all met up at The Pioneer Grill. We figured its nice, priced reasonably and probably wouldn’t be as crowded as the chain restaurants. And damn the foods good. We ended up bumping into the mayor and Councilman Matt there.

Dinner took a little longer than expected so I was a little bit late for practice. No biggie. By midnight we still got to run through a ton of stuff. Things are coming together. After practice I headed home. Band Mom was still up and she wanted to listen to practice (I record the practices as a reference). So we did. She didn’t rip me too bad. Some good constructive criticism though. Then it was off to bed.
