Sunday Sleep

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Sunday we all got up and got ready to go. We were taking Pooh to a tanning session at 11:30. We dropped Pooh off and Band Mom, Things 1 & 2 and I then went over to Big Lots to look around and kill some time. Pooh (and her boyfriend who was dropped off by his mom) met us there after the session. Then we headed to Eat ‘N Park for some brunch. After we at we stopped at JC Penney so I could get some new jeans. After a little bit of shopping we headed home.

Pooh and her boyfriend went upstairs and watched some House on DVD. Things 1 & 2 went upstairs and played and watched TV in their room. Band Mom and I almost immediately fell asleep on the couch for a couple of hours. I finally woke up and took Pooh and her boyfriend to youth group around 6. Then I came back home and made some dinner for the fam. Nothing fancy, just salads all around. While Things 1 & 2 and I ate Band Mom ran over to her mom’s to take a look at her eye.

Band Mom brought home some ice cream so we had some ice cream then it was bath time for the girls. After the bath, I tucked the girls in and headed back downstairs and watched the season premier of The Tudors on DVR before heading to bed myself.

Nothing Saturday

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Saturday was a whole lotta nothing. After I got up I had to take Pooh to her driving lesson. On the way home I stopped and picked up some Krispy Kreme doughnuts for the fam. Pooh was dropped off after her lesson. Then I took her to Wal Mart to pick up a few things. Then it was back home. Around 3 I took her and dropped her at work. The rest of us spent the day just kinda lazing around the house. Band Mom made some spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. Then around 10 I picked Pooh up from work.

We ended the evening watching more OnDemand. This time it was Wild Hogs.

Family Friday

Monday, March 31st, 2008

Friday was kinda laid back compared to the last few. First I had to head out to BFE to pick up Pooh after work. I got her and we headed home. Then everyone got ready and we headed over to Band Mom’s Mom’s. Pooh and Things 1 & 2 were going to help Band Mom’s Mom by vacuuming and dusting a bit. Band Mom and I jumped Band Mom’s Mom’s car and then headed to Giant Eagle to get some groceries for her.

After the grocery run we headed back to Band Mom’s Mom’s apartment and wrangled up the crew. Then we all headed to dinner at Eat ‘N Park. After dinner we dropped Band Mom’s Mom off and headed home. We didn’t do much but sit around for the rest of the evening. We ended the evening watching Blades Of Glory on OnDemand. Will Ferrel cracks me up.

Not Into Preventative Maintenance

Friday, March 28th, 2008

I’m not known for my diligent preventative maintenance. This applies to almost anything. The last time I went to the doctor was almost 2 years ago. The only reason I went was because I was so sick I could barely think. I actually passed out while at the doctors office I was so sick. But I don’t go in for regular check ups or when I start to feel ill, only when I am near death.

Home repairs are the same way. Remember the sewage fiasco or the the broken stove. It maybe wouldn’t have reached critical need if some things were done in a preventative way. Who know?

My car is easily my biggest lack of preventative maintenance. Outside of putting gas in the damn thing I don’t do jack with my car. Why? I don’t even know. I rarely check the oil. I get it changed when my idiot lights come on. The other day my wiper blades just fell off. I guess if I’d pay attention to the fact that they haven’t wiped well for like 3 months, I could have gotten new blades before I was blind in a rain storm, but there you go.

One thing I know how to do with my car is change a tire. Why, because I ride my tires till one blows. I never check the tread. And Thursday morning it happened. On my way to work my right front tire finally gave up. I was only like a mile or so from work and I had to pull off the road onto the muddy shoulder and change the tire…in the rain. Oh well, no biggy. I got the doughnut from the trunk and used my crappy little jack to jack up the car and changed the tire.

After work I needed to get new tires. So I headed to Wal Mart. Of course they only had 1 tire that fit my car in stock. So when Band Mom got there to meet me she called Sears and I called Sam’s Club to see if they had any. Sam’s didn’t have any at all, but Sears did. So we headed to Sears.

We got there and I had them put 2 tires on the front of my car. While it was getting worked on, we wandered the mall and had some dinner at Garfield’s. Then I got my car and we headed home. Its amazing how much better my car rides with 2 new front tires. Maybe I should have changed them sooner?

Happy Easter!

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Sunday was Easter. Band mom and I slept in since Pooh was at her dad’s and Things 1 & 2 were at my folks’. I got up eventually and cleaned up a little since we have been running around like crazy for the last week and dishes were piling up. Band Mom got up around 12:30 finally. I then jumped in the shower to get my day moving. I was supposed to pick Pooh up around 2 so I left the house around 1:30 to head out to get her. Except, I wasn’t really supposed to get her until 4. Luckily I got a call before I got out of town to tell me this and I didn’t get all the way there just to not get her.

So then I headed to my folks. The kids were all geeked because the Easter Bunny found them even though they weren’t at home. That was nice of the Easter Bunny if you ask me…The main reason I stopped early though was to help my sister remove the hard top from her Jeep. After I did that I left and headed back home. Band Mom was feeling pretty run down after the past few days so she was trying to get motivated and it wasn’t working very well. Finally around 3:30 we headed out to get Pooh. After we got her we headed to my folks again.

It turns out the Easter Bunny had left stuff for Things 1 & 2 at our house as well so the girls were thrilled to get another basket each. Also the Easter Bunny got them High School Musical 2 Sing Together dolls. Thing 1 got Sharpay and Thing 2 got Gabriella. So they delighted us all with their singing…

After dinner, we loaded up all the kids and headed to Band Mom’s Mom. She wasn’t feeling all that great so didn’t come to my folks’ for dinner. She had a little something for everyone for Easter and needed some things taken care of. We stayed and visited for a while then headed home. The kids don’t have school again on Monday so they stayed up and played while I watched some DVR and Band Mom worked on taxes. Then I had to go to bed since I don’t get Monday off…

Parties, Gambling, And Booze

Monday, March 24th, 2008

Saturday was full of action. We all got up and I made scrambled eggs and sausage for breakfast. I then ran out to the store and picked up another poker set. Turns out the one I got yesterday at Target was $10 cheaper at Wal Mart. Also, although I got a gift for the party later, I didn’t get a gift bag or card so I also needed those.

While I did that the 3 kids were getting ready. Band Mom was doing very last minute stuff for the Night At The Races event. A little before 3 I took Things 1 & 2 to the neighbors grandson’s birthday party. We were all supposed to go, but Band Mom was still working on the Race stuff. So the plan was ammended so that I would drop the girls off at 3 and while I was doing that Band Mom would finish what she was working on and get a shower and then we would head to the party at 4. Well I did get the girls to the party by 3. Then 4 came and went. Finally closer to 5 Band Mom was ready to go and we headed out.

Instead of heading to the party though, I dropped Band Mom off at the place where they were holding the Night At The Races. Then I headed to the party. The party was starting to wind down by then, but I showed up at the perfect time…Cake and ice cream. Then I also had some rigatoni, since I didn’t know if I’d get the chance to eat later. Around 5:30 Things 1 & 2 and I left the party, and I dropped them off to my folks. I then headed to to the Night At The Races.

When I got there most of the committee was there and set up was well on its way. I set up my table and got ready to deal some hold ‘em.

I’d never been to a Night At The Races that wasn’t actually, you know, at the race track. The concept was pretty cool. How it works is they get sponsors to “buy” a horse, this is one way they raise money for the event. Then they group all of the horses into races kinda randomly. Then, a race is shown on a screen via an 8mm projector. The horses in the race are given the names of the purchased horse, and a live announcer uses the film and calls the race with the made up names as if it were live. Its kinda funny since some people went out of there way to make obnoxious names like, Rectal Itch, Shelovahowmydicate, Harry Ballsac…you get the picture. The buffet line opened around 7 and so did the roulette table. The races started at 7:30 and I started my first table of hold ‘em at 8.

After my first table was done, the 5 people that played on the second table agreed to let me buy in to the game as well and I allowed the deal to rotate rather than be the only dealer since I was also playing. That was cool of them, because I was looking forward to playing until 2 days ago when I found out I was dealing. Although we got a couple of people out of that game quick 4 of us played for quite a while. Then it was down to heads up play between me and another guy. We started raising the blinds faster since the races were over and they wanted to close the joint. But we really wanted to play it out. So finally I got beat…Oh well. I got everything cleaned up and it was time to go…

To the bar. Band Mom and I and the core committee that held the event then headed up to the hotel for some drinks. We got there around 11 and closed the place. Then home and bed.

Good Friday

Monday, March 24th, 2008

And it was a good Friday. Thing 1 was off school, Pooh was off school as well and at our house. I decided to take the day off of work as well. So there was some sleeping in done all around. My sister (who was up for the weekend) came and picked up Things 1 & 2 in the morning. She took Thing 1 to get a haircut. Band Mom spent the day doing last minute things for the Night At The Races that was going to happen on Saturday. Pooh and I ran out and did some last minute Easter shopping. We also picked up a present for our neighbors grandson who’s third birthday party would be on Saturday. And finally I picked up a poker set since I was going to be dealing hold ‘em at the night at the races.

Around 4 I took pooh to work. When I got home Band Mom and I spent the next few hours getting ready for the evening. Around 7 JuJu came over to babysit Things 1 & 2 and we headed out to the hotel. We were going to eat there before the show and Band Mom needed to meet with some of her committee about the Night at the Races. We got to the hotel and Trav and G were already there. They and Trav’s wife joined us for dinner along with members of Band Mom’s committee. As soon as I ate I then started getting things set up for the show.

Joe and Kimmy opened the show for us once again starting around 9:30. They played for almost an hour. Three shows now with them opening for us, and each one was better than the previous show. Even with Joe’s one gimpy arm, they performed well.

We finally took the stage around 10:30. The show was much better than our last one. I think everyone wanted to make up for that show to a point. Having G on guitar was pretty cool. We played some different songs than we have the past few shows. Its too bad G is already in 2 other projects, because he would be a good picker to have with us in the future, but I doubt that is gonna happen.

We had a nice crowd show up. Including my folks and sister and some old friends who we haven’t seen in a while. We had 4 former Shot:30 members in the crowd, Bill (who was kind enough to loan us the PA for the evening), Jason, Mike and all the way from Cadiz, OH, Keyser! It was cool having them come out and check out the show. Also if it wasn’t for Mike I would have gotten stuck singing Margaritaville, which is something I was trying to avoid like the plague. For some reason I just can’t sing that damn song…

We played 3 sets and finished right about 1:30. Tear down was quick and, bonus!, I loaded the PA right into Bill’s ride so I didn’t have to make a trip to Canonsburg to drop it off on Saturday! We all hung out for a bit and had a couple of beers before close and everyone headed home.

Thanks again to all who came and saw the show! We appreciate the support (and critisisms as well). I don’t know when or even if there will be a next show. But, hopefully, there will and you will all come out again!

Still Sick, But Doing Better

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Sunday, I slept in kinda. I woke before 11, but by the time I really got moving we missed the pancake breakfast being held by the Canonsburg Chamber. I was still feeling kinda poopy. I took Pooh to her driving lesson a little after noon. Since we all skipped breakfast, on my way home I picked up some Arby’s for lunch. I hadn’t eaten since breakfast on Saturday. My fat ass was finally getting an appetite again. That’s good.

I picked Pooh up from her lesson at 2 and we headed to Wal Mart. I needed to get my lunches for the week and we also needed some other stuff. Then it was home. I ended up napping on the couch with Band Mom and Things 1 & 2 for a while. After Pooh got picked up, Band Mom made some dumplings and soup for dinner. Everyone ate.

Thing 2 spent most of the day looking as poopy as me. By bed time though both of us seemed to be doing better.

Should Have Stayed Home

Monday, March 17th, 2008

Saturday, I got up and ran out and picked up McDonald’s breakfast for the fam. I was starting to not feel all that well, but not that bad. After breakfast everyone got ready and around 1:30 we headed out. We dropped Things 1 & 2 off to my folks for the day. Then we headed to the hotel. Band Mom had offered to take a look at some computer issues for the hotel and Pooh had to start work at 3. So we started looking into the computer issues. Around 3 or so I was finished with what I could do for the time being. So I sat down in the Chamber office and started to fall asleep. I was starting to feel worse…

Band Mom offered that I could go home and she could catch a ride home or I could come back and get her. Did I take her up on this offer? Of course not, how bad could it be? We shouldn’t be here too much longer and I’m not that sick…HA! I was in and out of sleep for the next couple of hours. Band Mom got some computer stuff fixed around 7 or so finally. By this time I was kinda sick and sleepy and being, well, a dick.

I finally did go home and Band Mom stayed at the hotel and finished up her work and ate some dinner. I went home since the kids were at dinner with my folks. I then proceeded to fall asleep on the couch. Some time after 8 Band Mom called to see what I was doing and to see if I got Things 1 & 2. Sleeping and no. So I called my folks and then headed over to get the girls. I brought them back home and fell asleep on the couch. Around 9:30 Band Mom called and had me come pick her and Pooh (who was done with work) up. We headed home.

I was still being quite the dick so fought with Band Mom for a while. Around 10 I did go to bed, cause I was feeling like total ass. I ended up not getting up untill 12+ hours later…
